Immensely impressed by your vulnerability...if you ever need a reminder of your light, think back on the murder mystery party on my 37th birthday...the tape measurer said it all.

...great reminder that no matter which you you are you are still always you no matter who you think you are...also great reminder to tell adults more bedtime stories...netflix should get a whole division on this asap...

Spiritual directors are also *deeply* helpful for times like this. Speaking from experience and speaking as one.

Haha--I do get it. Nice one. I think another impromptu story may be in order...

Also chaplains. (For three months of my life I was a pastor, spiritual director AND chaplain, and while there's overlap, they're also very different disciplines and I got confused and had to ditch chaplaincy for a while...but...I just spent most of today studying for a chaplain recertification exam. 🤷‍♀️)

A basic brief description of what a spiritual director does is: facilitate real-time interaction between another human and God. Also here's an article that might help: https://open.substack.com/pub/jennwith2ns/p/everybody-has-a-story?r=1eou4q&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web (It doesn't take counselors into account because, although I have a little long ago training in that, too, I have less direct knowledge of that field.)

I love hearing things like this! (Usually I get, "What's a spiritual director?" with a "must be a cult leader" vibe. 😁)

The pull in disparate directions of identity is real, especially for creative types, and even more so for the sacred clowns. This is a great reminder to resist the fabricated expectations of the masses and stand firm in the gift of singularity.
